Best Things about Your Neighborhood:
“I like it’s reputation for being a little badass, like there used to be street fights that were scheduled and publicized like amateur boxing that neighbors showed up to watch. Also, there are supposedly caves in this area where the Maya would hide from the Spanish. Sometimes they could be heard talking and people thought they were ghosts and that this part of town was haunted.”
“We live in the middle of 3 parks, very low foot and car traffic, family neighborhood with multi generations, lively and family friendly San sebastian park at night”
“Near the General Cemetery, great local foods and annual fairs”
Incredibly welcoming and friendly neighbors, perfect distance from Plaza Grande; easy to walk/bus/Uber there (especially since buses are so convenient) and a relief to come home to peace and quiet, lots of small fruterías.
“Love the quiet, friendly locals, parks and being centro”
“Easy access to food, hardware stores and medical”
“Super family-oriented neighborhood, lots of parks and churches,”
Things you don’t like:
“Garbage and occasional dead animals disposed of on corners which gets picked up eventually but can be awhile; the annual church festival in San Sebastián, in late summer, goes on for 2 weeks and is loud and all night (though going to it is super fun and that part I like); no fantastic coffee shops yet.”
“lack of “fancier” restaurants and bars. Farther away from the beach”
“barking dogs, loud buses, loud fireworks during festivals”
“Many unrenovated homes makes it feel ghostlike sometimes.”
